5. CAMEO Unemployment Classification

CAMEO Unemployment is a unique post sector classification for assessing economic inactivity - a significant indicator of the relative wealth of an area and the levels of economic hardship experienced within that area.

CAMEO Unemployment has been built from both long and short term unemployment rates across male and female claimants gathered at post sector level. Post sectors in the UK have been divided into 20 groups as follows:
